This wiki is for recording individual concepts studied in SDI 895: Productive Theory, Summer 2011. Each member should initiate at least two entries and contribute to editing a number of others. Your entries should focus on defining terms (possibly multiple definitions, representing different uses and users of the term) and locating competing definitions within disciplines and/or schools of thoughts. You may also wish to note if a term belongs to a pair of terms, where the opposition is an important part of its meaning. In that case, include a section of your entry on the oppositional pair. Cite sources used to write the definitions. No new research is required beyond class readings, but you are free to edit using additional sources. Dates for Wiki: July 5-August 1.
See Louise's notes in Blackboard for criteria and some advice on selecting concepts. I have asked that you select concepts from the class readings or discussions for the wiki even though you may choose one from outside the class for your final writing assignment. However, it's a good idea to incorporate into entries, in a separate section or in other ways, terms you would like to cross-reference or link to the primary one. For example, a term like "classification" could be linked to type, typification, category vs. concept, abstraction, prototype, and genre, all of which have presence, meaning, and/or use in theories related to the class. You don't need to define all these, simply list and/or make connections as you choose.
Check "discussion" for possible responses to your concepts as you begin to develop them.
